There are forty-eight countries that make up the continent of Asia. The major countries are:

China is the largest country by area in Asia and the fourth-largest country in the world. Asia is surrounded by a number of water bodies. It is bounded on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean, on the east by the Bering Strait and the Pacific Ocean, and by the Red and Mediterranean seas on the southwest.
